Merchandise Planner - New York, NY

Draper James is looking for a Merchandise Planner to join our team! Our Planner will support the Director of Planning and focus on Pre-Season and In-Season planning, as well inventory management to drive sales and maximize profitability.

Major Responsibilities Include:

Pre-Season Planning:

        • Present grow/maintain/diminish recommendations to cross-functional team for future seasons based on financial learnings from the hindsight of previous quarter results.
        • Provide cc/style level analysis and communicate productivity targets to team.
        • Provide seasonal sizing analysis to inform changes in future size curves.
        • Plan future merchandise at a cc level. Present logical analysis for plans based on history, current trend and/or creative reasoning
        • Ability to reconcile the bottom’s up buy plan to topline targets.

In-Season Planning:

        • Independently pull daily and weekly cross-channel sales. Surface opportunities and risks within the business with recommendations of profitability maximizing actions.
        • Present weekly selling results to cross-functional team, with ability to articulate variances to plan and/or LY in topline financial metrics and KPI’s. Able to tell a story with the business and provide action recommendations
        • Think creatively to manage exit strategies of items. Propose markdown and promotional triggers as needed based on business climate, and systemically execute price changes.

Inventory Management:

        • Strategically setup and accurately execute initial product allocations for each new season.
        • Manage weekly in-season replenishment to stores as needed to drive sales through turn optimization.
        • Maintain ladders for Key Items considering appropriate inventory depth, turn and lead time to ensure sales maximization.
        • Support in-store events and maximize sales with appropriate inventory depth through collaborative partnerships with Store Managers and Operations team.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

        • Strong analytical skills.
        • Candidate needs to exhibit a strong sense of leadership
        • Creative problem-solving ability and willingness to think outside the box.t

Part-Time/Freelance Associate Technical Designer - New York, NY

Draper James is looking for a project-based Part-Time/Freelance Associate Technical Designer in our NY office!

Major Responsibilities Include:

        • Creates initial T/P seasonally
        • Preps garments prior to fit
        • Provide seasonal sizing analysis to inform changes in future size curves.
        • Modifies and issues fit comments
        • Ensures accuracy of T/P comments
        • Ensures daily workload is executed
        • Ensures best fit, construction, and quality and established in each sample
        • Updates fit charts with dates samples are fit
        • Stores and manages files and samples
        • Ensure Vendor/ Factory comply to Technical Design standards

Required Skills:

        • Strong interpersonal skills
        • Strong time management skills
        • Working knowledge of Excel
        • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
        • Intermediate patternmaking
